I realized i had never done a drawing of my favourite fictional character: Sechs.
Sechs is a character from the manga Gunnm (Alita) by Yukito Kishiro. She begins the story as a small female android, with a digital brain so advanced that is no different from a normal adult human. She was created as a copy of Gally (Alita), but decided to defeat “the original” to prove that her existance has a meaning. After her body was destroyed, she tried to improve her physical capabilities by changing into a big male body, and indeed she improves her skills at a much faster rate than the original Gally, even becoming at some point practicaly the new protagonist and fighting alone against the strongest fighter in the universe.
The interesting part is that her evolution is full of the psicological questions that Yukito kishiro poses to the reader that makes him so characteristic and, in my opinion, superior to other comic artists. Sechs is not a trasgender, in fact she’s not even human, but she’s a copy of a female, and she’s heterosexual, yet she inhabits a male body and don’t gives a shit about gender, she is treated as a “he” from that point onwards and she only uses her new body for fighting purposes. Yet, Elf and Zwolf, her sisters, are very feminine, while being exact copys of her/him. I think all of Gallys “copys” represent a part of her, being Sechs the part of her life as a sintonized, when she was more aggressive. It would be very interesting to see Sechs again in the new Gunnm serie, but with a female body again.
Me he dado cuenta que nunca había hecho un dibujo de mi personaje de ficción favorito: Sechs.
Sechs es un personaje del manga Gunnm (Alita) de Yukito kishiro. Comienza su historia como una pequeña androide femenina, con un cerebro digital tan avanzado que es igual a un humano adulto normal. Fue creada como una copia de Gally (Alita), pero decidió derrotar a la “original” para demostrar que su existencia tiene un sentido. Tras que su cuerpo fuese destruido, trato de mejorar sus capacidades fisicas cambiandose a un cuerpo grande de varón, y de hecho mejoró sus habilidades a una velocidad muy superior a Gally, hasta el punto que en ciertos momentos se convierte en la protagonista y lucha contra el mejor luchador del universo.
La parte interesante es que su evolución esta llena de las cuestiones psicologicas que Kishiro plantea al lector y que lo hacen tan caracteristico y, en mi opinión, superior a otros dibujantes de comic. Sechs no es un transexual, de hecho ni siquiera es humano, pero es una copia de una mujer, y es heterosexual, aunque habita un cuerpo de hombre y no le importa una mierda el genero, es tratada en masculino desde que cambia de cuerpo. Y sin embargo, Elf y Zwolf, sus hermanas, son muy femeninas, siendo copias exactas de ella/el. Creo que las copias de Gally representan partes de ella misma, siendo Sechs la parte en la que fue sintonizada, cuando era más agresiva. Sería muy interesante ver de nuevo a Sechs en la nueva serie de Gunnm llevando de nuevo un cuerpo femenino.
